I don't want to wait for warmer weather to switch from spinners to my fly rod. I went out tonight and threw streamers (which I fish more or less like they are spinners). I caught 1 brookie on a mickey finn. Are there any suggestions for other streamers that will draw some action in small streams like Fenton, Willimantic, Mt. Hope, Natchaug, etc?

Here's a few:

Grey Ghost, Black Ghost, Colonel Bates, Zoo Cougar, Black Wooly Bugger, and Olive Wooly Bugger.

Oops! Almost forgot the Hornberg and Black Nose Dace.

Good Luck!

Thanks George. I have some ghosts, buggers, and zonkers. I'll see if they hit 'em this morning.

Matukas have also produced for me, I like the olive color best...

Muddlers, White or Olive Zonkers, and Black Nose Dace are also good patterns.

Here's one that I have found to be deadly on a number of species...it has more or less replaced buggers in my box. The Foxee Ba$tard is especially killer on big browns over here, maybe they see it as a juvenile brown? Anyway it is a tail and collar of Red Fox tail with a tan softhackle wrap over a tan chenille body in between. Add a copper bead if you want and a few strands of Mirage flash before the collar and you have yourself a winner! I will be finding out exactly how it does out your way ion a few months, but wouldn't mind advanced knowledge if some of you want to get it out there first :P

Caught 2 small one (1 brook, 1 brown) on streamers this morning. 1 on a royal coachman and 1 on an olive wooly bugger.

Sorry about the delay Ken...I have been away from the house in the water all weekend. I just replied. I am in the process of redoing the site and adding some flies but do not yet have the pictures and code written. If anyone else is interested they are 1.75 for the regular or 1.95 for the BH version, just shoot me an email. I generally do them in sizes 4, 6, and 8 but could do them larger or smaller if that is what is required. I have found that they fish best in the size 6. I am adding it to the database now
