Do any of you have a secret killer fly which you wouldn't even tell your twin brother/sister about?
You do?
What is it?

I do.
Its a _____ Special. Sometimes the trout will ram each other out of the way to get at it.

Oh yeah, troutfitter. That's the one.
In my day it was called the Unmentionable.
My Uncle Fuzzy once had a Black Nosed Dace take the fly, which was immediately seized by a carp fingerling, which was taken at once by a brook trout, which was swallowed on impact by a rainbow, which swung in the current a moment because my Uncle Fuzzy was so amazed at the turn of events. Danged if a huge sea run brown didn't bull its way all the way up Pewterpot Brook from the Connecticut River to engulf that rainbow.
Well, Fuzzy was confounded, I can tell you.
He played that fish nearly two hours, and the fish worked HIM down to the mouth of the brook.
If his trusty Montague cane rod hadn't snapped at the tip, he'd have been half way to Fisher's Island before he knew what hit him.
Well, at least that's the story he told Aunt Gladys to explain why he was so late to supper that night.
His bootlegger had a different story, but you couldn't repeat that one after church on Sunday. Or any other time, since Aunt Gladys always seemed to get wind of everything Fuzzy did, but then, that was Fuzzy's problem.
Still, its too bad you can't seem to get Moravian Pheasant Tails any more, because in conjuction with Slovenian____________________, they make that pattern deadly.

I wish I did, but sadly a sz18 Bead Head Pheasant Tail isn't a secret.

Mine is called the Uncle Jeff. It was invented by myself and named by my niece. Tied in many sizes and colors this nymph is unstopable!!! I start by wrapping the hook with **** then tie in xxxxx shapped in a @@@@@. Using $$$$ and &&&&& I finish the fly with some xvcxvcvxcv. This thing is wild!
