I am getting low on my hook supply. Historically I have used Mustad for streamers and egg patterns for the Salmon River. For the smaller dries and nymphs it has been a real grab bag of sorts. I am going to be placing a big order soon and wanted to toss the question out to tiers.
Patterns I usually tie:
Wooly Buggers/Worms all sizes
PT Nymphs...all the typical sizes
Stimulator...thanks to the Fisherman for the recommendation
Hares Ear
Apparently now I will be tying Adams as well.
Copper Johns...
I have used tiemco, dai richi and others.
Anyone have a hook that they prefer or strongly recommend?

Can't go wrong with Tiemco. I've never had any issues with them.
Several years ago, at one of the FF shows, I had a lengthy conversation with a salesman from Japan who was the USA manager of a hook company. He told me that none of the Japanese brand hooks are actually "made" by the name brand.
All of the hooks from Japan are subcontracted to small cottage industry or family owned small shops. He also explained that there was a very small town that specialized in hooks and most if not all of the Japanese brands were made by the same people. Slightly different bends and shapes but essentially the same hook.
I recommend purchasing at the lowest price or a favorite shape style, and not worry about a particular brand name.

I have found the Mustad Accu Poiint series to be good hooks too.

I tend to believe the "generic" discussion above. I've had very good results with inexpensive hooks -- one of the lowest priced sources with hooks that have been very satisfactory is:
www.thefishguy.net/hooks.htm - these are so-called Kobe hooks and I've ordered lots of them and tied many flies on them and caught lots of fish with no failures and encountered no irregularities. Of course, I also buy and use Daiichi AND Tiemco hooks for some special small hook/large gaps and eyes and other brands for special sizes and types (when does this hook and fly-tying material buying frenzy end ?).

I bought a few packs of these hooks this past spring and used them all season. For 6.99 per 100, they were a good price and I haven't straightend one out yet on some decent sized cutts, browns, and rainbows I caught in Yellowstone region this summer. Any one else have any experience with them good or bad? I'd like to hear.
I've used Mustad for years, but I might switch to these if they stay priced as they are.

flyshack...
that is the name of the outfit. I bought a bunch of stuff from them at the flyfishing show in Marlborough last year. Nice people. Decent prices. Saber hooks? Heck could be the no name brand of one the big hook companies for all we know.
Never heard of them before...but based on the report you posted I will definitely take a look.

Saw them at Marlboro and placed a catalog order. Saber hooks fine, so far. Catalog has limited items at very low prices.
