I'll post this in the CT Salt forum as well, but I thought it was relevant here as well. I recently finished a book called "A Fine Piece of Water" (author's name escapes me, and the book is upstairs, and I'm downstairs, and well, you know...).
The book is a history of Long Island Sound, particularly about the environmental/pollution problems the Sound has faced over the last 200 or so years. It won't make you a better fisherman, but it was an interesting read, and certainly makes me appreciate the Sound that much more.
I'm not advocating that you should stay indoors and read instead of fish, but if you are so inclined, I'd recommend the book.

From bookfinder.com:
Author is Robert F., Jr. Kennedy
Title is This Fine Piece of Water: An Environmental History of Long Island Sound
Sounds good...I'll pick up a copy.

No, that's the author of the Forward. The book's author is somebody else.

Well, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me!
My comment wasn't meant to be rude, I just rememered that Kennedy didn't write the book, only the Forward, and I couldn't recall the author at the time. I was busy and didn't have time to a) look up the author, or b) write a long, thoughtful, sensitive response to your post.
Indeed, I have more personality than time. In fact, my mom says I have a wonderful personality, and I don't need to play with people like you.

AMS,
I have to agree with hot tuna!! I was watching Oprah and Dr. Phil today and they were talking about forum post educate. You were way out of line with your short unfeeling comment. Next time try lowering the lights put on some nice music, get a glass of wine and take some time to consider your post!!
I am off to my sensitivity workshop and then to get my nails and hair done!

You have no credibility whatsoever. Please turn in your man card immediately. I can't begin to say how deeply embarrassed I am for you. Oh, the shame.

It discusses the history of oystering and the role of pollution in the collapse of the oyster industry, along with some history of lobstering, episodes of massive hypoxia, the development of industry along the coastline and up the rivers, etc.
If I remember correctly, the book starts out with the history of how the Sound was formed millions of years ago.
Farmy Joe, you might as well start reading it because as far as I can tell, "The Office" is going to be re-runs for the forseeable future!
