View Full Version : What I did on my winter vacation

During the holiday break I was trying (unsuccessfully) to get some tying done without creating a huge mess and having my kids get into everything.

After much deliberation and a great idea from my wife I gave a second life to an oak entertainment center that was not seeing much use in our basement.

Off to the hardware store I went. A 3/4" sheet of plywood, heavy duty drawer slides, an undercabinet light and here is what came of it.

Let's see what others are using for their tying desks/stations.

I am looking forward to doing that. I am confident that I will be coming back from the Marlborough show armed with all types of materials and hooks to use and hopefully a new pattern or 2.

Plus I owe a streamer for the swap before the end of february.

Nice setup, nice Regal, and a bit more tidy and organized than mine.

Like a new car the desk just needs to get broken in a bit. But I do have to admit I am a bit fastidious about keeping it organized. I hate losing things under piles of feathers, etc.

That is a very cleaver idea. Maybe when our TV cabinet is no longer needed....hmm.

Plenty of storage underneath for the clear tupperware boxes of materials as well. So far so good. Kids have stayed out of the cabinet.

I'll be at that show Saturday, maybe we'll bump into each other.

Slo-

How did you like the show? Thought it was very good. Plenty of vendors to see. Plenty of rods to test drive indoors, but the best part was the speakers.

Saw Kenny Abrames piece on baitfish, excellent.
Saw Ed Engle talk about nymphing...basic but still came away with some good ideas

Al Caola (sp) spotfishing for stripers piece was good as well.

Come on...the guy asked to see where you all are planting your behinds while you tie back in January . I realize it's late, but I'll bite.
