A couple of years ago my daughter gave me a book for my birthday by Scott Waldie - "Travers Corners". The author pulls the reader into the happenings of a small town in Montana that borders on a terrific trout stream. The easy read is very entertaining and very difficult to put down. The charecters are all charecters themselves and although fly fishing is a central theme even non-fishermen will become engrossed in the stories.
Since the first book, the author has published "Return to Travers Corners" and "Travers Corners the Final Chapter".
Some of the stories are downright hilarious and some of the charecters reflect folks that we have all met on the stream at least once.
I highly recommend the trilogy- easy reading and just fun books.

:D Thanks capt Bob. I for one will check them out. If you like stories, you'll love the books by Nick Lyons. I've loved his writing since the late sixties, in Fly Fisherman.
Thanks again for the info.

Tis a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. W.S.

Thanks for book tips. I am a avid reader. I think reading is a wonderful thing. You get to use your imagination and create the scenes as you read them. I've read several books based around fly fishing. Some were serious, some were funny and lighthearted. But one of the best ever books I've read was "Fly Fishing Through The Mid-Life Crisis" by Howell Raines. Don't miss the chance to read this book. It is funny, emotional and poignant all at the same time. It's fishing tales we all can relate to in some way, shape or form. Great read!

I also loved this series. After reading this post, I pulled the first Travers book off the shelf and took it to the pool with me to start reading it again. Its very enjoyable the second time around. I plan on completing all three books again before Labor day, expecially since I will be in Montana and YNP for a week at the end of August. I'll need something good to read on the plane trip and the evenings after a day on the rivers out there. Waldie is a great writer, wish he would start a new series similar to this one.

Scott Waldie passed away right around the time the third book came out. The movie rights to the first book have been batted about a couple of times.
