With a couple weeks to go, I figured that I would start a poll to see just what fly all those planning on attending would like to see tied. I will limit the choices to 6, and depending on which ones make the top positions will determine whether I tie 1 or 2 different flies. Here are the choices. Whatever fly/flies that are tied at the meeting are free to those who want one. I figured that this would get you guys started. For the next meeting after the February meeting I will open up the tying to suggestions by those planning on attending.
1. Deer Hair type sculpin streamer.
2. Magic Caddis pupa
3. Cased Caddis nymph
4. Floating Hendrickson nymph
5. Simple effective Dry fly emerger
6. Simple midge

Since we're a ways off from Hendricksons and prime dry fly season, I would tend to think either the caddis nymph and pupa, or the streamer.... I guess the midge is appropriate too, given the time of year and conditions....

WN pete,
How long do you have to tie? Why limit yourself to just one pattern. I have tied before CFFA meeting several times and will be tying at the April fly tiers round table. I try to bring and tie what is of interest for that time of year. Some times it turns into a mini instruction session. Have fun with it and be creative.

CT,
We usually have from 30-60 minutes tops. I try to tie just one pattern repetitively because people filter in during that time frame. People come, people go and usually want an explanation to the techniques and reasoning behind the construction of the fly. I found due to the time frame, several different fly patterns dont go over as well, and lose focus. Thats why I was going to limit it to 2 patterns tops. Thanks for the insight though.

Todays the last day to vote, tomorrow night is the meeting. Based upon what I am seeing, I will tie 2 out of the 6 patterns listed. For those of you who are attending, your input while at the meeting will determine which fly I tie more of. Hope to see you all there, and thanks for voting on the poll.

The meeting was great and the tying table was a success. 4 tyers this time, and a crowd around all of us. Thanks to all who attended and those who voted on the poll. I will be doing something a little different for the next meeting, hope to see you all there.
