I had that book but I gave it away to a newbie
One section that really caught my interest was the part on fishing for pike.
McNally's contention was that a pike, given the choice between a hard bait lure such as a spoon, and a fly with it's seductive action, will choose the fly every time. Even to the point of veering off while tracking the spoon to take the fly.
