You know, I don't mind a little rain every now and then. It makes the grass and the flowers grow and Mother Nature needs it to feed all of this great world we live in. :) But here we are expecting another 1" - 2" of rain tomorrow which will likely mess up the fishing for the weekend. I just wish we could get out of this cycle we seem to be in with gullywashers right before the weekends.

I'm pretty sure it was the Fisherman that used the term "gullywasher". I hadn't heard that in years.  Whomever it was, it made me laugh! :D

Actually, it was "Gullywhomper." Indeed, it is a wonderful phrase. We had a line of gullywhompers move through the state last night. Although I was at Salmon river in Colchester, and we didn't get much rain or lightning at all.

I stole gullywhomper from a weatherman who was on a local Hartford TV station for many years, Hilton Kaderli. I believe he was from Oklahoma.

I think Hilton is selling rain gutters for a local contactor on TV these days. Didn't he retire to an ostrich farm in Indiana or something?

Actually, where I fished this week the water was low enough that a little rain would have improved the fishing.

:?: Without revealing your favorite spots...can anyone suggest areas around Avon/Farmington that are favorable for "high water" fishing? I fish the farmington river exclusively, but during periods like this would love to try alternative brooks...(ie. Salmon, Burlington, etc.) Any suggestions regarding access points are appreciated...

That's it, Gullywhomper! I remember Hilton Kaderli and I liked him. He always brought a little spice to the weather report instead of just reading off the teleprompter. :)
