Well, it has been mentioned before that I will finally be making it out next Saturday through July 1st, but I suppose this is the official invite. I will be at the Houssey Meadows campground site 12 by dinner time on Saturday in my black Subaru Forrester with the liscence plate 'REDWINGS1'
I would love to meet any of you that happen to be over that way during that week and swap a few flies or stories over a good dinner fire.

I'd be happy to meet up with you at some point. I don't know what you have lined up, but if you'd like I could show you around a little.

The only official thing we have lined up Dave is a float on Tuesday, other than that it is a lot of wading and exploring. Hottuna and Howie are both also on another forum with me and have expressed interest in coming out some time during the week as well.

I would love to also, but I will be in Norway from June 24th until July 12.

Tight lines

Mike, you are having open camp on Saturday June 24 ?

I would enjoy checking out your warm water flies.

Not sure what the park rules are as far as other people staying at the site, but if they don't have a problem with it then neither do I. Planning on a little tying next to the campfire and guitar playing after dinner

I just confirmed with the park that we can have up to six people and two cars at the site, so we have room for up to four more people on any given night and if there is more than one additional car then it can be parked at the campground entrance parking lot. Based on that it looks like some people can stay if they want; the site is payed for.

That is my understanding also, the guest parking lot is on the immediate left side relative to the park entrance. It is an easy walk down to the Redwings1 campsite #12. Ref. Map appended

I was not intending upon staying overnight however, I would enjoy visiting and sharing fly patterns.

We may have occasional evening showers over the weekend, sometimes the cool rain really turns on the fishing.

Good information Fred.

Just curious for anyone that may have been at this site before....is it wooded enough that we will be able to string a rain tarp to cover the table/tying station?

Mike-

What I remember from a few years ago is the trees are pretty close to the river and the campfire rings are 15 - 20 feet away from the trees. A few of the sites do have trees that will work so it will depend on where site #12 sits.

If you plan on sleeping in, bring ear plugs. A freight train came by at 5:30 AM the day I camped there  ! My son took the ear plugs from me in the middle of the night because I was snoring  !

Good Luck on the trip. If I can make the trip during the week I'll be sure to stop by.

Thanks Pete. That is about the time we will likely get up to make our gourmet pre-fishing feast ;)

If I can tear myself away from other fishing plans I might be able to make it up sometime this weekend.

It has been many years since I camped at the Meadows, years ago they would not allow tying ropes to the trees claiming that it damaged the bark and girthing would eventually kill the tree. If you are planning on using a rain tarp, bring your own aluminum poles or gather some dead saplings in the state forest across Rt. 7 from the campground.

It would also be advisable to bring your own firewood if possible, the camp grounds are void of any usefull wood and all this week we are having nightly thundershowers, any ground wood will be damp at best. The state forest is large and with an axe and bow saw you probably would have your choice of standing dead wood.
