Any opinions on good/bad fly fishing magazines?

Not looking for tying info, but would like to see advice on destinations, equipment and techniques, primarily for fresh water.

Eastern Fly Fishing is good because it focuses on the east coast, although lately it has been a bit heavy on Canada.

Flyfishing..when my subscription runs out, I won't weep. Seems like the same info/articles recycled every year.

I think overall Fly Rod and Reel is my favorite.

The ones that buy my articles. ;-)

Most of the mags are readable, but I find they're all quite biased towards the tackle industry, so I wouldn't expect balanced tackle reviews from them. better to ask on here.

Trout & Salmon has excellent stories!

I don't get any magazines now, but I subscribed to Fly Fisherman for over 20 years, American Anglerfor close to 10, and many of the others for shorter periods
I always thought that Fly Fisherman had too much emphathise on destinations but had the best articles.
American Angler was more for the average fisherman and technique oriented
In my mind Fly Rod and Reel concentrated too much on pushing the latest gear
One of my favorites was the magazine for members of the American Museum of Fly Fishing

The last subscription I let drop and one that I would subscribe to again is to On the Water a regional, New England (but heavily Cape Cod), general fishing magazine.

I like the Eastern Fly Fishing also. Mostly because it gives me ideas for local trips or semi local trips.

I like Fly Rod & Reel, mostly because it carries John Gierach's column. I've subscribed to all of the fishing magazines on and off over the years and I agree with others that most of them are focused on pushing the latest gear and technology to please their advertisers.

Outside of Gray's Sporting Journal, which is not strictly about fly fishing, none of them carries old-fashioned fishing stories any more.
