Just a reminder to make sure you get a new license if you're jonesing for some early New Year's fishing.

I got my 2009 license at UpCountry yesterday, and they have this spiffy new computerized bar code scanner system. Although I miss the old clunky layout.

i wanted to mention that as well. i have heard that new year's day is a popular one to check for licenses, although i have never been asked. it was also good to see that CT is up on technology.

I am told both the Fishin & Huntin licenses are now working on line for the CT DEP site. Moving forward in technology, Yea!

Would be nice to be able to get these licenses and tags at local sporting goods stores as well as town clerk offices like other states.

Did mine on the internet while at work. Kind of weird that you print it out on what ever paper you have in the printer...

I printed a few copies and put them in a few places so i always got one depending on what i am fishing....

i agree. and it was only last year where you could buy it online for the first time, whereas other nearby states have been offfering that for years.

for the record...if trying to get a license in Newtown..DO NOT GO to Town Hall. They are not selling them.

i am not surprised to hear that. i cannot imagine every town getting one of those new machines. it just doesn't seem worth it for the amount of licenses they sell in a given year.

I printed out a copy for my wallet, a copy to keep in the car, and a couple of backups at home just in case.

I wonder if this online license thing will hurt business at tackle shops. The shops don't make any money off of license sales, but I bet a good number of folks buy more than just a license.
