Stopped by the CFFA expo on Saturday morning and seen a bamboo flyrod made by R.J. Pupedis rodmaker ( Raymond J. Pupedis, senior collections manager of the Peabody Museum’s entomology division). Its a A.J. Thramer taper 4' 4" 4wt. 2 piece 1 tip. I just had to get it for some of the small streams that I fish in. Its a little shorter then I am used too but some of the places that I fish are extremely tight areas as well so it should be a perfect match.

You picked your self up a rare and beautiful little rod. I did not know he was selling any of his rods. He used to frequent Quiet Sports in Collinsville, I had many long talks with him about rod making and entomology. Fascinating man.
Can you please post a few pictures of the rod?

I know Ray pretty well - my office is in the building next to his. He has even made some bamboo bait casting rods.

Ray is a friend and a very talented rodmaker. He often fishes a really nice 7' 5-weight he built and, as Andrew said, he's also built bamboo bait-casting rods that he uses on ponds. He even made himself an 8-weight salmon rod last year. He is a man of eclectic tastes and his rods rarely are found on the market. You got yourself a real little gem.
