If you could fish anywhere?

I was in the Owl briefly tonight, and my buddy, who knows that I lust after fish, asked me a good question (he's a golfer, not an angler).

Q: If you had one shot at one destination in the world, for the species of your choosing, and (other things being equal), the fishing was "on", where would you go?

My answer: Scotland, The River Dee, in March, with fresh, large spring salmon coming well to the floating fly. Perhaps with a bag-piper on hand, a homemade broth for lunch, washed down with a fine Bordeaux! With my best man and friend, Colin, on hand for banter.

Of course, I'd like a crack at a Caribbean Grand Slam, but you're only aloud one shot!

You? I know it's almost time to stow such questions, but one more won't hurt....

At this moment after seeing a presentation by Rob Nicholas I would have to choose Andes in February.This trip would have to be on my to do list.

I'd fish for salmon too, though in Iceland or Norway. I've always wanted to see Iceland anyway, so that's my final answer.

If I could fish anywhere...I'd want it to be an undiscovered wilderness location similar to what Lee Wulff found in Labrador.
I've looked into 'self-exploration' in Labrador and that's not going to happen

Not where I would like to go...but where I have been.

I would love for the opportunity to go fishing for "flatfish" with my grandfather again. An old flat bottom wooden skiff in a salt pond in Narragansett. Just he and I with a couple of hand lines and some cut up quahogs for bait. The boat is long gone, the fish are now scarce...but I have the hand lines still...most importantly I still have him to talk to. His days fishing are behind him, but every summer we get to re-tell the same stories and I can feel like the little 8 year old in the boat all over again.
