I was walking the dog this morning and there was a constant rustling in the woods on the side of my house that I couldn't place. It wasn't until I stopped for a moment and observed that I saw perhaps two dozen robins picking at the leaves looking for worms.
It can't be long now.
The traffic stopped outside my door this morning to let a line of fat turkeys cross the road.
I love these signs. Next: tune in for the first peeper of the year!

My lawn is full of crocuses (croci ? )
Spring may not come as quick as you'd like it to, but it can't be deterred either.

We've got tulips coming up, and I had a flock of redwing blackbirds in the backyard yesterday.
I even saw a monk parakeet a couple days ago. They are introduced, and stay here year round, but anytime you see a green parrot in your neighborhood, it makes it "feel" a little warmer. I went right home and made a margarita.

andrew, I used to see the parrots all the time in west haven where they first appeared. Have they started nesting on the light poles in Hamden now?

First time I ever saw them was on the beach in West Haven - quite a surprise!
We now have a couple nests on the powerlines (right on the transformers) on State Street, near the Hamden/North Haven area.

Monk Parrots in CT (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/1569) In case you haven't seen or heard them.
They build these elaborate nests up in the poles..they are huge monstrosities of sticks. Any they are squeaky little fellers too.

Yes!!
The slice of red onion goes on the grill right at the end of cooking the burger, just long enough to warm it through and add "grill lines".
Bun top
Tomato (optional)
Lettuce
Ketchup
Cheese Melted
Burger
Red Onion
Mayo
bun bottom
It's got to be done right or it ain't worth eating!!
Beer!!!

Last spring they were at Cove Beach Park in stamford. They were all in one tree and they were having a blast.
