Does anyone out here use a spey rod? I am originally from Washington State and that is the rod of choice out there for the big rivers. I was wondering if anyone around here uses a spey rod? Also besides Jim Rusher at Orvis in Boston does anyone give lessons on the spey?
This past winter, I bought a Loop Blackline LSL8124-4, 12'-4" 4 piece for 8 Wt, Sci Angler's Sys2 1213 and Rio Windcutter 7/8/9. I intend to try spey fishing for brood stock salmon on the Shetucket River in the fall. There is a guide and spey cast instructor in MA named Juro Mukai, who has a forum and web site.

Check with the Catskills Fly Fishing Museum.
They have and instructor Philip Christa, he's from Virginia I belive, He is doing something ther in September. He usually attend the Catskills Rodmakers Gathering, hangs out for a week and does his program the following weekend. CRG is Sept 9-11, so he would be the weekend after. He's got a nice collection of bamboo speys and plastic rods as well.
