This is one I wanted to do for a while, but got sidetracked. It's three of my favorite flies from the classic salmon text "How to Dress Salmon Flies" by Dr. T.E. Pryce-Tannatt. Pryce-Tannatt is considered the last of the classic era salmon fly tyers. A virtuosic tyer, Pryce-Tannatt often took conventional patterns and added components to the dressing, which further complicated already complex patterns.
In this set, the Popham and the Jock Scott are examples of old patterns that P-T "dressed up". The Rosy Dawn is a pattern of his own design with a sort of unique style to it. It's considered a whole feather wing fly (due to its use of whole golden pheasant tippets in the wing-as opposed to strands) and a wing veiling made of married fibers of dyed swan (turkey, in this case) and golden pheasant tail.
With the help of fellow Fly Addict Tidal (Thanks!), I am trying a framing style new to me, but should highlight each fly individually (which I haven't tried yet). Here are the pics of the flies themselves. I hope you guys enjoy them. I'm gonna quit procrastinating and finish the frame job (finally). I'll post pics of the completed project later today.
