I have a question on rod buying. Like everyone I want to get the most bang for my buck. I'm in the market for a new trout rod for nymphing and fishing streamers. I have a st. croix 8'6" 5 wt. and a loomis 7'6" 4wt. for my smaller streams. I have casted a tfo lefty kreh pro 9' 5wt. and loved it I think it retailed for somewhere around $140 but I'm not sure if I want to get another 5wt. or bump up to a six. My 5 wt. has been my primary rod and I wouldn't mind replacing since it is a two piece and I would like a 4 piece for ease of travel. What size flies are suitable for a six wt.? I fish rivers mostly like the Farm and when I hit my creeks I go for the Loomis. The St. Croix is not a bad rod by any means it has caught me many a trout flawlessly and it was my first fly rod purchase. I got it as a combo with st. croix reel which switched for an Orvis rocky mountain large arbor. I want something a little more mid range for my next rod $125-175 range. Any thoughts?

I was looking for similar rod earlier this season. I tried several 6wts and liked a few, but wound up getting a Winston Accent 9' 5wt. It is a very fast rod and casts a Jim Teeny T-130 sink tip and Rio Grand WF floating line beautifully. To be honest I have not used another rod since I got it. I believe I paid $180.

I bought a TFO TiCr 9' 6 weight as a spare and have used it often.
I use the rod for throwing streamers on a sink-tip line with a 30 foot sink tip as well as for most of my nymphing. The rod is OK for dry fly fishing but I often switch to a 4 weight when fishing dries.
I would guess that I do 90% of my fishing with this rod and am very happy with its overall performance. It is a durable rod (Im typically rough on rods, sending them back every season or two), I am well in to my second season with it.
I think it will cost close to 200 hundred dollars but you will find it well worth the money. The entire TFO line is really great on a cost basis.

Yeah I just purchased a tfo pro 9 ft. 6 wt. at Grady's, and I can't wait to use it. It is supposed to be cooler (relatively speaking) this weekend, and I'm gonna give it go Saturday morning. The excitement of a new rod brings you back to childhood!
