Quick question for my small stream brethren. Now that the insect activity is slowing and the levels are high, what streamers you guys rec.? Some I like are the Mickey Finn, Edson Tiger, Murrays Betsy Streamer and of course my beloved Hornberg. Any others you guys suggest I try? Thank you in advance as always.

PS. I'm packing the rain gear and heading north this afternoon to explore a thin blue line in search of Brookies, Tigers and Browns, oh my!
Heading to the Land of Oz to escape reality for a few hours. I need it, rough week! :)

I did a little online investigation, came up with these:

I tend to keep things very simple when I fish for wild brookies. I basically use either a Black Ghost (my favorite) or a version of a sand eel bucktail I tie using 30 (total) strands of white, yellow, and orange bucktail with a strand of blue flash, a topping of black krystal flash and a gold body.
Of course, I will always want to experiment with other patterns. That's just the way the wind blows me these days. ;-)

I'd add a Grey Ghost, and smallish Wooly Buggers in black, olive and brown.I love small stream fishing, having grown up in the Poconos near Wilkes-Barre. It's so hard to simplify.

Light Edson Tiger, although I tie it without the JC.

BRK TRT - do you find that the state of Maine streamer works well in Ct waters, too?

Best luck I've had is with size a 10-12 Mickey Finn, Wood Special, Hornberg or Brookie Muddler (has red calf-tail instead of squirrel in underwing). Brookies seem to love warm colors -- red, orange, yellow. That's especially the case during spawning.
I've also done well on overcast days with a small olive bugger tied with mohair.
I find bucktails and flat wings generally work better than marabou in tight quarters, not sure why.
