Does anyone out there know the Major who used to hang around Quiet Sports. I used to see him there all the time and we had some great conversations. I know he had a couple of strokes but he still got out. Since Quite Sports closed, I have lost track of him.

I heard John the old owner of Quite Sports is working at EMS in West Hartford. You might be able to find him through John.

I also miss the Major, he had the most amazing stories of WWII U.S. Marines in the Pacific, China and later in Finland.
He was also close friends with Frank "Smitty" Smith who guided summers for The Barnes Fly Shop in West Yellowstone for many years. Smitty was also a combat Marine vet from the Korea conflict.
John Marona would most likely have the Major's address or telephone number. http://quietsportsct.com/index.htm

I miss Quiet Sports and it's cast of charectors.
Haven't heard from John in awhile, but I have seen the blue bomber tucked away in some of his old huants along the river.

Hot Tuna:
Did Smitty die? And I have been in to EMS a few times but John is not there when I go. I may try some of the contacts suggested.

Smitty passed away shortly before John closed the store.
He had the obituary there for awhile.
He is a charector that is missed.

Very sad news about the Major.
He and Smitty will be fishing together again.

I'm sure there is a line in some song somewhere that says it better than me, but, too often we don't realize what we have until it is gone.
I miss the old shop and the kibbitzing there ... always enjoyed Smittys observations over his cup of coffee.
