I know it is not exactly fishing; however, it is a social event. Is anybody planning to attend the Marlboro event this weekend?

I am traveling up Friday with a car load of buddies. We will be freely smoking fine cigars and drinking highly caffienated brews.....looking to get all jacked up for inspiration, aggressive consummerism and seeing places and fish we could only dream of visiting or catching? PRICELESS.

Speed safely and enjoy the show.

Got to the Marlborough show on Saturday.

I've been going to this show for many years. This was the most disappointing I've been to. Clearly the economy has hurt the sport -- fewer vendors, outfitters, manufacturers, not many good deals. I did run into several fishing friends from my TU chapter, which was nice, and the seminars seemed pretty well-attended.

But you've got to wonder about the future of this event. Similar ones in Danbury and Wilmington already bit the dust and more people seem to opt for Somerset.

Three of us went on Sunday. Crowds were light, but the seminars were well attended, despite the fact that they were in a separate building from the convention hall. All of us either bought flies or tying material. We all tried out rods as well.

i went on friday and got in and out early. that was probably my last marlborough show. its just not worth it anymore. got a nice grade b jungle cock neck and thats about it.

i'll agree with labtrout except the art of the angler show is still in danbury but that may be on its way out too. wilmington was a neat show and i'm sorry to see that one disappear.

i may drive down to the somerset show but i'm still on the fence about that one. 3 hour drive to be sandwiched in a booth trying to find materials isnt for me.

got to go to somerset!
Last year there were incredible deals in every catagory.
This year should be even better.

Somerset is the "grand daddy" of them all!...Some vendors only attend Somerset because
of all the shows that this promoter does, Somerset is the largest and best attended.
Vendors from all over the country attend. As in all venues that deal with fly fishing there will be some great deals, some good deals and some deals that are not "deals' at all!
We've attended as both vendors and guests and it's always great just to be there! All that stuff....so little time... only so much cash!!!

Both George Daniels and Aaron Jasper are running nymphing programs there over the weekend. I have had the chance to fish with both and also attend seminars for both...I strongly suggest going to see them if you are attending the show in Somerset.
