Conservation Projects

Hello:

This is written and posted for information gathering purposes. For those members of this site that belong to fishing clubs and organizations, these questions are directed to you.

Does your club actively participate or sponsor conservation projects geared toward waterway & fish habitat enhancement?

Where do generate the ideas or the concepts for the project(s)?

How do you select your project(s)?

Does your group embrace the idea of a conservation project or is it akin to pulling teeth - and only a core group of people continuously show up?

Has your club /organization written or applied for grants to assist with the project?

These questions should no way be interpreted that local and state regulators are not involved in this process. It is firmly understood that appropriate local and state regulatory agencies must be coordinated and brought in as partners on any project that involves riparian or water course activity. I addition, please note or remember the purpose of this post is to gather information. Just noting some disclaimers so that folks don't go and get their pants knotted up.

Thank you for the information and insights. It is refreshing to see people who give back to the resources they enjoy - kudos.

To the general memebership and those who are not involved in something. I believe it is important for those who use the natural resources, for passive and active recreation to think about the enjoyment received and the effort invested back to preserve the resource. We have to manage what we have and if everybody just did one small thing, the response would be overwhelming. To that end, if we defer to those making the rules, then we allow others to steer our bus and guide our trip....the only way to prevent this from happening is by getting involved and taking control of our bus.

Enough of the soap box.....just think about it....please.
