The SRAA has been playing an active role in this managment plan. An open invitation to anyone who enjoys this wonderful resource: it's never too late to join up and pitch in. :-)

This effort is being lead by The Nature Conservancy. Essentially the project is to identify and understand the differences between the development regulations of each municipality within the Salmon River watershed. The first phase was to collect information from each of the 10 muncipalities and understand the variety of differences and focus on similarities between each of the 10 municipalities. The first pahse is complete and full report that identifies the differences, similarities and proposes recommendations that could be incorporated to local regulations that help reduce the impact of development on the natural environment.
The second phase is to work with a couple of "pilot" towns to "revise" / "improve" upon the local regualtions based on the findings of the 1st phase report. The second phase is just getting underway. If anybody would like additional information, please PM me.
The bottom line of the first phase is; promote low impact development measures, to include measures to reduce the impact of stormwater run-off, reduction of impervious surfaces, and limit impacts of land develop projects near wetlands and watercourses, and seek to increase conservation areas through innovative land use practices.
