I'm a flyfishing book fanatic! To quote my wife, borrowing a line from writer Thomas McGuane, "all he does is talk about the "f" word!"

Best recent read in the memoir genre goes to Lani Waller's River of Dreams. It's got everything: poetically written, memorable lines and stories that make you laugh and cry. Stories range from his life and death struggle after a plane crash into a river in British Columbia, growing marijuana in the Redwoods during his college days (very, very funny), to poignant recollections of the deaths of his mother and father. For those who prefer a fishing cat to a fishing dog, there's a story for you too. And it's a tear jerky, to boot.

This book goes beyond being a "fishing book" to really being good literature. It belongs in the same league with A River Runs Through It.

Highly recommended.
It gets my highest 5 Fish rating (on a fish scale of 5, of course)!

PS: The Thomas McGuane quote is from his The Longest Silence, also highly recommended.
