Rocky Neck State Park, East Lyme, CT: The restoration project along Bride Brook is in the final stages of completion. A failing culvert was replaced here, so CT's second largest herring run can continue without interruption. Next up is a major volunteer dune grass planting. Over 10,000 native dune grass bulbs, plants & shrubs need to be planted (rain or shine) on Saturday, April 10th @ 10 a.m. Many volunteers have signed on already, but this is a big project and you really don't know how many will show until they do. Please RSVP with me via email at kbroatch@savethesound.org if interested.
Here is a shot from the first volunteer effort here on 9.11.09 (dune grass transplanting before culvert construction).
