Currently I have some beat-up individual leg waders that only extend up to my upper thighs. They don't leak, but their height has limited my ability to get to some fishy spots (as well as completely filling up with water after a mis-step!).

I mostly fish from spring to fall, 1-2 times per week. Does anyone have any suggestions on a durable/economical pair of waders? I am leaning toward a stockingfoot of some kind.

Again, appreciate all the help - this site has been so beneficial since I moved to CT.

I really do not think there is such a thing as durable/economical. Check the local Fly Shops because I think they have some on sale. It is always best to try them on unless you are a perfect size. Support your local shops. 2WT

I believe the new line of Redington waders are of decent quality and fairly affordable for breathable waders. You may wish to start there.

The Hodgman Wadelites breathable stocking foot waders are a good buy. I have two pairs and the most recent pair was purchased last month when one of the big chain sproting goods store ran a 25% sale on them. They usually go for about $100. People's expereince with different brands will be different as there are sands on the beach. The most common belief we all agree upon is that one must try the waders on before purchasing. Good luck

I have a pair of Orvis "endura" breathables, i paid i think 130.00 and so far no complaints. Definitely find a good pair of wading boots though as they outlast the waders, (sometimes) I have a pair of Korkers wading boots, they have interchangeable soles on them, and they work real good for me.

Also 2weight made a great suggestion check out the local shops they have great deals going on...good luck with what you choose.

I have a pair of the redingtons. Very pleased with them. I also have a pair of neo LL Bean waders that come out for the winter. Hit the local shops and I hate to suggest it, but if price is an issue, ebay works. If looking for a suggestion on boots, the korkers listed in a previous reply are very comfortable. Also, I fish with a lot of guys that swear by Chota's.
