Something like this, but with flat foam (not slotted)

I have seen them before, so I know they exist. I just don't know where to find them. Any tips?
Bob Marriott's has compartment ultra thin with flat foam. Also, I wonder if you could remove the foam from the LL Bean box and turn it over without ruining it.

Flambeau 3025. .5" interior w/ flat foam bottom .75 overall thickness and indestructable. They also make a 10 compartment devided version.......Stanley
Thanks, fellas!
DA, I was thinking about gutting those Bean boxes myself, but the Flambeau might do the trick.

The Bean one is is the best box (for my purposes) I have found recently.

It is organized as a 12 X 14 arrangement, so lets you carry 168 flies. It is 0.5 X 4 X 7.5in. The dense slit foam holds the flies securely. I bought mine at a Bean outlet store in Vermont. They only had two, and I bought them both. It is not flat foam, but really useful.
I also have a bunch of the similar Petitjean boxes, and some of them arranged with long slits in the foam.

Agree with FR, the Bean box made by Anglers Image holds a lot of flies and securely. I glued 2 of them back to back and it's worked out great.

Pork specifically asked for flat foam not slotted thus my suggestion for the Flambeau which I altered by removing flat foam and replacing w/magnetic strip that holds about 250 small nymphs. If he had asked for slotted foam I certianly would have suggested another alternative......
My only concern with the slots is how well they hold very small flies. Would it be a pain to keep something as small as a #26 in the slots? That's why I was thinking flat...

Pork: I routinely keep nymphs down to size 24 in the slotted boxes, but sometimes I use a tweezers or forceps to put the flies in and out. Once the flies are in, they will not move at all. In my opinion, it would be harder to use flat foam, since you would have to make sure the fly's hook point bites into the foam. I am fairly certain you would be happy with the box I pictured. Hope it works for you.
How large of a nymph can fit in one of those slots?

Up to about a size 16 will fit. Bigger than that, and the tails of one fly will hit the hook eye of the other. The box is best for flies sized 16-24, and only for nymphs and small streamers. If you use flies without tails (caddis larvae), you can fit bigger ones. Some flies (RS2 emergers) fit perfectly also, since they don't really have tall fibers. Hope this helps you decide.
