Not sure if this is old news to you, but Cabelas in East Hartford is a go and I think may be done in 2007. This is cool but don't forget to support our local fly shops!

Yes it is opening in the summer of '07 which will be cool then it's a short drive away for me, instead of online ordering. I will still support local shops but they are an hour away from me. but much closer to me when on the river. :)

There is supposed to be a 10 acre pond going in there, the place will be HUGE. I like the idea of them coming to CT.

Especially support local shops that have great flybin signs.

Once they open in Ct, if you order from the catalog, you will have to pay the six percent sales tax. They are also trying to open a store in Maine, but they want the State of Maine to exempt them from charging the sales tax if you live in Maine and order from their catalog. They say their Catalog is a separate entity and should be exempt from the tax. Two Maine Senators are asking the Maine State Tax Department to waive the rule and let the Catalog Orders be tax free. Why doesn't Cabela's ask for the same thing in Ct. Cabela's said that if they don't get the exemption in Maine, they will not locate there

Snoopy, there is no way that will happen. As a taxpayer, technically, we legally must report out of state and catalog purchases to the state and pay the sales tax on these items.
